Adjuncts across the country are uniting to win!

Job security (George Washington University): Part-time faculty now can only be denied reappointment to courses they have taught before under limited,specified circumstances. These circumstances include elimination or downsizing of departments, elimination of courses due to changes in curricular requirements, or demonstrated inferior job performance.

Support for teaching (American University): Adjuncts will have access to materials and supplies needed to teach the assigned course(s), access to computer workstations, space to meet with students, and other support services. Adjuncts will be reimbursed for expenditures for materials and supplies used in the classroom and for other costs associated with teaching.

Raises (UMass at Lowell): Starting base salary at $4,000 per 3-credit course in humanities; $4,500 per 3-credit course in science, math and engineering; and $5,000 per 3-credit course for management and business.

In addition to base salaries above, faculty with terminal degrees will receive an additional $500 per course plus a 10% increase of the base salary rate for senior adjuncts working for five years or more with a total of 10 courses taught.
